Adara Ventures Energy: Inaugural Meeting Recap

At this year’s Energy Tech Summit in Bilbao, we had the honor of hosting the inaugural meeting of the Industrial Advisory Committee for Adara Ventures Energy, our first Pan-European fund dedicated to technologies enabling the energy transition.

This milestone event brought together over 30 attendees from more than 10 countries and different areas of the energy industry, including energy generation and transportation companies, OEMs, and engineering and procurement firms.

We were delighted to have our limited partners (LPs) Redeia, Elewit, and Grupo Energía Bogotá at the event, all of whom have been instrumental in supporting our vision. We extend our sincere thanks to Silvia María Bruno De la Cruz, Jaime Portero, Carlos Puente Pérez from Redeia, Elena de Benavides Jimenez and Alfonso Carranza from Elewit, and Alvaro Villasante, and Agostinho João Ramalho Almeida from Grupo Energía Bogotá for joining us and their invaluable contributions.

Keynote highlights from BCG & NVIDIA

During the event, we welcomed Magin Yanez, Senior Partner & Managing Director at Boston Consulting Group (BCG), and Guy Gueritz, Energy Sales Leader for EMEA at NVIDIA, as our keynote speakers. Their presentations provided deep insights into the energy market’s current trends and future direction.

Magin Yanez addressed the energy trilemma and the importance of balancing security, affordability, and sustainability. He outlined four initiatives critical to resolving this challenge:

  1. Evolution of primary energy resources: Transitioning to more sustainable energy sources.
  2. Efficient transmission and distribution of electricity: Enhancing the infrastructure to reduce losses and improve reliability.
  3. Optimization of conversion devices: Improving the efficiency of devices that convert energy from one form to another.
  4. Reduction of end consumer demand: Encouraging energy conservation and the use of energy-efficient appliances.

We also gained insights from Guy Gueritz on how AI is set to transform the energy sector. In his presentation, Guy highlighted hybrid cloud edge models as crucial for scaling AI solutions and shared six impactful use cases where AI has already significantly improved energy company outcomes.

Startup spotlight on energy technologies

During the event, we also had the pleasure of hearing from innovative startups at the forefront of energy technology:

  • LiveEO: Led by CEO Daniel Seidel, LiveEO uses AI and satellite data to monitor critical infrastructure, manage vegetation around it, and ensure operational efficiency and safety.
  • DeNexus: CEO Jose M. Seara presented DeNexus’ approach to risk management and cyber resilience in the energy sector, leveraging advanced analytics to measure potential risks and cyber risk insurance coverage.
  • Whiffle: CEO Remco Verzijlbergh showcased Whiffle’s precision weather and wind pattern forecasting technology, which optimizes energy production and wind farm design.

Each founder presented the problems their company addresses in the energy sector and their innovative solutions. The session concluded with a stimulating debate among corporate representatives about the practical applications and potential impacts of these technologies. Thank you all for joining us and presenting an inspiring showcase of innovation!

Our commitment to deeptech solutions for energy sustainability

At Adara Ventures, we see immense opportunities for cutting-edge technologies to pave the way toward a sustainable future. During the event, our Partner Alberto Echeverri also shared insights into our motivation for launching the Adara Ventures Energy fund and the potential we see for deeptech to address the most pressing global energy challenges.

We capped off the event with a networking dinner, where Eran Inbar, CEO of Prisma Photonics, also joined us. Prisma Photonics specializes in advanced photonic sensing technologies that enhance the monitoring and management of critical infrastructure.

The inaugural meeting of the extended Adara Energy Advisory Committee was a resounding success, and we look forward to growing with our community of investors, founders, and industry leaders who share our commitment to a more sustainable and efficient energy future.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and contributed to this inspiring event!
