We're pleased to share that Prisma Photonics closed an oversubscribed $30 million growth round in October 2025, bringing its total capital raised to $80 million. The round was led by Protego Ventures, with Adara Ventures joining alongside the investment arm of a leading Latin America transmission operator, and continued support from Insight Partners, Chione Switzerland, and SE Ventures.

The grid utilization is not at full capacity, and nobody can see where

Power grids across the U.S. and Europe are being asked to carry far more than they were built for. Renewable generation is coming online faster than transmission capacity can expand, and building new lines is slow and expensive. Utilities are left rating their existing lines conservatively, using static, worst-case assumptions instead of what the line can actually carry right now, which means capacity sits unused on the very days renewable output is highest.

The same blind spot shows up beyond power lines: pipelines, secured compounds, subsea cables, and rail corridors all run for hundreds of kilometers with only sparse, discrete sensors watching them. Most of the asset, most of the time, is unmonitored.

Prisma Photonics: the fiber that's already there becomes the sensor

Prisma Photonics' Fiber-Sensing platform turns ordinary optical fiber, the kind already laid alongside power lines, pipelines, and rail corridors for communications, into a continuous distributed sensor spanning hundreds of kilometers. An interrogator unit reads the light reflected back along the fiber to measure strain, temperature, and vibration at every point along the line, then applies machine learning to classify what it's seeing rather than just flagging an anomaly.

That last part is what separates it from first-generation fiber sensing: the platform doesn't just detect that something happened, it identifies what happened, whether that's a storm front, a dig near a pipeline, an intrusion at a perimeter, or the load conditions that determine how much current a power line can safely carry. Prisma Photonics is already running on thousands of kilometers of infrastructure with 15 Tier-1 transmission system operators across the U.S. and Europe.

Why Adara

We back technology that's genuinely hard to replicate because it's built on physical infrastructure. Prisma Photonics' stack, deep optical engineering paired with AI classification trained on real deployments, is exactly that kind of moat. The company was founded in 2017 by a team with a track record in lasers, optical fiber, and algorithms, and CEO Dr. Eran Inbar has built that into a platform utilities already trust with a critical part of their infrastructure.

"Prisma Photonics has already proven its value to U.S. and European utilities. Now it's poised to support operators in need of advanced grid technologies," said Alberto Echeverri, Partner at Adara Ventures.

What's next

The round funds Prisma Photonics' continued scaling across the U.S. and Europe and its expansion into Latin America, where utilities are integrating renewable energy while managing aging transmission systems. The company is already moving on that momentum: in March 2026, it launched a two-year evaluation program with TransnetBW, one of Germany's four transmission system operators, deploying its PrismaPower dynamic line rating technology across 120 kilometers and three power circuits in southwest Germany to help the operator safely raise transmission capacity as weather and grid conditions allow.
