We are delighted to share that Datadog, Inc., the largest monitoring and security platform for cloud applications, has announced a definitive agreement to acquire Hdiv Security, an Adara portfolio company and leading security-testing software provider.
Adara Ventures has backed Hdiv Security since leading its Seed raise in 2018. We are very proud of founders Roberto Velasco and Gorka Vicente, and the rest of the team as they’ve established Hdiv Security as a global leader in software security.
Hdiv Security’s story begins in 2000, when founders Roberto & Gorka, former employees of S21sec, observed a gap in the market between application development and cybersecurity.
In 2007, they developed a solution to provide cybersecurity to web applications, and the server part of digital systems, and released an open source version to validate the idea, which turned out to be a success. More than 10,000 developers were accessing Hdiv, and 17% of the downloads were coming from Fortune 500 companies, validating the potential for an enterprise version.
In 2016, Hdiv Security officially launched a paid product from its headquarters in Donostia, and growth has been unstoppable since then. Hdiv quickly became a top solution for DevSecOps teams globally.
Among Hdiv’s clients are some of the top 10 banks in the US and in Europe, two global credit card companies, and three of the largest retail companies in North America.
Headquartered in New York, Datadog is the world’s leading monitoring and security platform for cloud-scale applications. Datadog was looking to advance its cybersecurity product roadmap, and the acquisition of Hdiv will help the company create a more comprehensive approach to the security of its customers’ applications.
“Adding Hdiv Security's capabilities to Datadog's Cloud Security Platform will deepen security visibility across the entire software life cycle to help our customers develop more secure and resilient applications,” said Pierre Betouin, VP of Product, Cloud Security Platform at Datadog.
While Hdiv will now be part of the global product group of Datadog, we expect that Datadog will continue to continue expanding the team in Donostia and in Spain, thanks to this agreement.
We are grateful for the opportunity to partner with Roberto, Gorka, and the entire Hdiv team from an early stage, and also for the support of co-investors Prosegur and Telefónica. We are incredibly proud of what Hdiv has achieved in just four years, positioning themselves as a global leader in cybersecurity from Spain. We believe Hdiv’s story will inspire the next generation of deeptech entrepreneurs in Spain & beyond, and we couldn’t be happier for the Hdiv team as they start this exciting new chapter.
