Adara Ventures is an early-stage venture firm founded in Madrid in 2005. We partner with technical founders from first cheque through growth, across Europe and the Americas. Pronunciation: /əˈdɑːrə/.

As AI transforms technology, hard problems become more valuable. As AI commoditises the surface layer of software, value sinks below to proprietary data, trust, domain depth and physical systems. That is the ground we have worked for twenty years, turning early conviction into category-defining companies.

## Investment thesis
AI is rewriting how companies build defensibility. Software became cheaper to build; incumbents are more exposed; markets form faster than capital can follow. Advantage has shifted to what generic AI cannot shortcut: proprietary signal, trust, domain depth, and physical systems.

Defensibility is a spectrum, not a formula:
- More directly changed by AI: workflow (agents rewrite it), distribution (rebuilt around agents), ecosystem (lock-ins loosen)
- Depends on combination and context: data (compounding wins), scale (capex still matters), network (trust intensifies)
- More embedded in real-world systems: regulatory (licenses hold), physical (hardest to replicate)

Position on this spectrum reflects exposure to AI, not business quality. The strongest companies combine several advantages and compound them over time.

We look for founders with:
1. Big vision — a market others cannot yet see, built for global scale from day one
2. Execution — talent density and the rate at which a founder learns, not just speed
3. Technical conviction — a precise account of why technical choices create a position others cannot easily replicate
4. Courage — conviction to commit before the narrative becomes consensus

Bringing intelligence into the physical world creates advantage that is hard to replicate. ## Why Europe
Europe under-converts its tech edge: world-class research, engineering talent and industrial depth have not produced enough globally scaled technology companies. The next cycle rewards proprietary data, deep domain expertise, trusted deployment and real-world integration — areas where Europe is structurally strong (industry as dataset, efficient talent, regulation as trust, complexity as moat). Adara is built to convert that edge into category-defining companies, with a pan-European scope, a Southern Europe core, and expansion into North America.

## Selected outcomes

- PlayGiga — cloud gaming; acquired by Meta / Facebook (2019)
- HDIV Security — application security; acquired by Datadog (2022)
- Cyber Guru — security awareness; exited to Libraesva (2025)
- Seedtag — contextual advertising; Adara wrote the first cheque; later a major European scale-up (including a €250m round in 2022). Co-founder Albert Nieto is now an Adara LP
- Quibim — AI medical imaging; $50m Series A (2025)

## Funds
Fourth generation of Adara funds. Public milestones:
